Petition to sentence Roanoke Co. man to life in prison after baby's death

Posted: Updated:
The father of a toddler who was abused and killed is asking the community for help.

Jonathan Craft wants to make sure the man behind bars for his daughter's murder stays there for life.

At 13-months-old, Veralee Craft was severely beaten and shaken. The man charged in her murder is Roanoke County man Preston King. He recently took a plea agreement for first degree murder.

However, his father Jonathan Craft wants more. He wants to make sure King gets life in prison for what he did to her daughter.

Jonathan Craft's Statement:

"In July of 2012 Preston King took something away from my family, friends and myself that we will never get back. That is the life of my 13 month old daughter Veralee Marie Craft. Preston King abused and killed in innocent life. There are things that every daughter should be able to do. Veralee will never get the chance to know her sisters and brothers. She will never have the chance to attend school, have a boyfriend, get her first car. My daughter will Never get to dance at prom or go to college. She will never get married and have her own family. why is it fair for Preston king to have a chance to live his life as a free man ever? Any man who will beat his own mother, abuse and murder an innocent child does not belong on our streets."
