The Hurt Park community in Roanoke is coming together to celebrate the success of the Drug Market Intervention (DMI) program.
It began two years ago, helping get drugs off the streets and drop violent crime.
To celebrate, members of the Hurt Park community and Roanoke City Police will come together tonight to sing Christmas carols.
Chief Chris Perkins believes this helps show the department's commitment to the neighborhood.
"We're in our 24th month since the call-in and we're still there, we're still committed," he said. "I think we've proven that we've made it a habit that we're committed to this area."
Perkins said he's happy with the progress DMI is making, including its expansion into the Melrose-Rugby neighborhood.
