Today marks the final day for most Americans without healthcare to sign up for coverage starting January 1.
The White House says the www.healthcare.gov
site can handle all the last-minute demand. To help, it's brought on hundreds of new people to work in call centers -- addressing any problems that come up.
Early this morning the website warned users that high demand could cause some delays. Already -- people calling in for coverage have reported close to a two-hour wait at times.
As we've reported, the site sees a lot of activity between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. -- so if you are trying to enroll quickly, try logging on in the afternoon.
Already more than 1 million people have signed up. Americans who don't sign up by today won't have coverage at the start of the new year.
You have until the end of March to sign up without facing a penalty.
