Danville crews battle 2 house fires

DANVILLE -

The Danville Fire Department responded to two fires Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

One fire started just before 1 o'clock this morning.

Firefighters rescued a person trapped inside a home on Lansdale Street.

Another person was able to escape the house.

Both are being treated at Danville Regional Medical Center.

The family dog died in the flames.

Investigators say spilled kerosene next to a heater caused the fire.

Firefighters also put out a fire in the 100 block of Ida street just before 8 o'clock Christmas night.

No one was hurt and the family of six is receiving help from the Red Cross.

Investigators say the fire originated from a wood stove.
