Man charged in Raleigh shooting near NC State

Sean Lamar Melvin has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a shooting Thursday night in Raleigh near N.C. State University.

On Thursday, Raleigh Police responded to a call from the 600 block of Chappell Drive, which is off of Avent Ferry Road, near N.C. State's Centennial Campus. Jamelle Leshaea Williams, 26, was at the scene with a gunshot wound and was transported to Wake Med with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The shooting stemmed from a robbery that occurred inside of the residence, police said.

Police announced Sunday that Melvin, 26, faces charges in the incident.
