2 arrested, 5 kilos of cocaine seized from car battery

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Police seized 5 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $500,000 hidden inside a car battery.

Members of the Greenville Police Department, the DEA and the NC State Bureau of Investigation concluded a three month cocaine trafficking investigation on January 3.

It culminated with the arrest of Fernando Garza III and Renato Rivera Torres.

Garza was arrested in Greenville near the intersection of Crosswinds Drive and S. Memorial Drive. Garza is charged with numerous conspiracy and cocaine trafficking charges and is incarcerated in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $2,000,000 secured bond.

Torres was simultaneously arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia by members of the DEA and Chesapeake Police Department and will be extradited to Pitt County.
