Roanoke City School Superintendent, Dr. Rita Bishop briefed Roanoke City Council Tuesday morning about the status of the TB situation. William Fleming students and staff returned to school Monday from holiday break.
Dr. Bishop says, "I have had over thirty phone calls over the 2 weeks we have been out of school. Extraordinarily cordial calls from parents wondering how to get a TB test for their kids. I would like to have an option for parents if it is something they would like for their children. It would involve William Fleming students. I would like to be able to provide that."
This comes after a William Fleming High School student tested positive for T.B. The school announced the illness at a news conference the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Tuesday night on WSLS 10 at 6:00pm Karen McNew has more on the health department's investigation and more information about the work that has gone into making sure students and staff are safe.
