RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police said the driver of a tractor trailer was going too fast when his vehicle turned on its side on Atlantic Ave. Tuesday morning.

Michael Parker Woodruff, 62, had turned off Wolfpack Lane onto Atlantic Ave. just after 7:30 p.m. when the load in his trailer shifted due to traveling at an unsafe speed, Raleigh police said.

Police said Woodruff took out a stop sign at Stillwell Court and lost the trailer's load in the incident after his vehicle ran off the road.

No one was injured in the incident but northbound Atlantic Ave. was closed until around 4 p.m.

Woodruff was cited for exceeding safe speed for conditions, police said.
