OXFORD, MS (RNN) – The Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Auburn Tigers in the two teams' SEC opener 65-62 Thursday night.

The Rebels (10-4, 1-0) were without their leading scorer, senior guard Marshall Henderson, who sat the second of his three-game suspension.

The game for both teams was a back and forth affair, with Ole Miss controlling most of the first half. After entering the second half leading 31-28, the Tigers (8-4, 0-1) roared back, taking a brief lead. Ole Miss overcame three lead changes to finally take hold late in the second half.

Despite the win, the Rebels could not stop Auburn guard Chris Denson. Denson scored 28 points off 10 of 25 from the floor. Guard Derrick Millinghaus scored 16 points and was the Rebels' leading scorer.

Auburn committed 18 turnovers, hit 26.4 percent of its 3-pointers and shot 39 percent from the floor. Ole Miss made 44.2 percent of its shots from field goal range and 50 percent of its 3-pointers.

The Tigers will host the No. 21-ranked Missouri Tigers on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rebels will travel to Starkville, MS, to face in-state rival Mississippi State on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
