Update:Roanoke Blacksburg Regional Airport soon to offer flights to LaGuardia

Posted: Updated:
A big announcement for the star city came Wednesday as American Airlines will soon offer a flight from Roanoke to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

This comes just six weeks after delta canceled these services. American Airlines will begin offering these flights on April 1st.

Flights will be offered every day, and should arrive and depart in the late afternoon.

Jacqueline Shuck, Executive Director of the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission says it’s a relief to be able to return this service to the community which isn’t an easy task.

"Making progress and adding service in today’s airline industry is difficult. This is one of those wonderful rewards you get once in a while,” Shuck said.

“You work hard at it, but you don't always win. But we are thrilled to be able to provide that type of service to the community.”

Shuck says in order to help seal the deal. They offered American Airlines several incentives like waiving the landing fees for one year and help with marketing the flight.
