Virginia Tech disease resource goes global

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Bioinformatics Institute through Virginia Tech is using technology to help scientists all over the world collaborate on ways to fight diseases such as Tuberculosis.

V.B.I. Computational Biologist, Dr. Rebecca Wattam explains, "We are working with scientists to help them use this resource to try to find out the differences in how we can stop maybe Tuberculosis from becoming active."

There are 24 team members who work together on this VBI project.  In addition to Tuberculosis there are dozens of other diseases they are helping scientists examine through the PATRIC system.
