People across the county will remember Martin Luther King Jr. with parades, marches and service projects today. The King family will lay a wreath at the monument honoring him in Washington D.C.. His daughter Bernice is calling for a day of non-violence in his honor. The Global Peacemakers will take part in the 8th Annual Peace Walk.

In Henry County today, Dr. King will be honored through a stop the violence walk in Sandy Level. It starts at the Cross Road Store on Axton road at 9 and ends at St. John Baptist Church with reflections and performances.

U.S. Senator Tim Kaine will kick off a five day tour of the Commonwealth beginning today. He'll start in Richmond and head to our area later this week.

Mark Burnett, creator of Survivor and NBC's The Voice will speak at Liberty University's convocation with his wife Roma Downey this morning at 10. The two will promote their new movie Son of God. They'll present a private screening at Regal Theater this afternoon.
