Three unweaned kittens were rescued from a house fire on School field Drive in Danville.

It happened Monday morning. All of the owners and their dog were able to escape, but according to the Danville Area Humane Society two adult cats died in the fire, including the mother of the kittens.

The kittens were picked up by staff members and transported to a veterinary clinic. Thanks for animal oxygen masks that were donated by the Humane Society to the Danville fire department several years ago, the kittens were able to receive oxygen on site.

The Humane Society says the next few days will be critical for the kittens, but they are receiving constant care.
