Posted: Updated:
The Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue has taken in two miniature horses who have been neglected for years.

The mini’s arrived Thursday after an Animal Control Assisted Owner release.

According to Administrative Assistant Connie Hash, the animals hoofs have been neglected for years and is the rescues main focus of medical attention at the moment.

The two are now referred to as Kirsten and Snickers. Hash says the two are very well behaved and sweet.

Kirsten’s first trim of her hoofs took place upon arrival at the shelter. Hash says they have started her on medication to help with the pain and will be soaking her feet and legs daily.

Kirsten will now need hoof care once a week for the next two months along with hoof and joint supplements.

Hash says Snicker's feet are not as bad but still needed a good trimming.

Snickers will be available for placement on 2/20/2014.

If you would like to help Kirsten. the shelter is in need of any type of Hoof and Joint Supplements.  Funding for her hoof care, donations can be made via
