ROANOKE -

Virginia Western Community College will open enrollment for four new programs it's launching for high school students today.

The programs called "institutes" will offer courses in four career pathways.

Classes will begin in the fall.

They'll take place on VWCC's campus.

Health Sciences-Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), STEM: Pre-Health Curriculum, Information Technology (IT): Desktop Support Technician, and Maintenance Technology are the four subjects.

The courses were  designed based on what jobs are in demand in the Valley right now.

All but the STEM pathway will train students for jobs they can obtain right after graduation.

The goal is to save students time and money.

Registration starts today and runs through April 1st. Spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

For more information, contact the Office of Dual Enrollment at 540-857-7235.
