$25 million meningitis lawsuit settled in Roanoke City

The family of a local man who died after receiving a tainted shot linked to the fungal meningitis outbreak has reached a settlement with a local clinic.

According to online court records Sharon Wingate, the widow of Doug Wingate reached an agreement with Insight Imaging. Initially, the family was suing for $25 million dollars.

According to court documents the settlement will be split between Doug Wingate's three beneficiary's which are his wife adn two children.

The court appointed a guardian ad litem to represent the interests of the two children regarding the sum of money.

The amount of money received is not listed in the petition. Attorneys who represent the Wingates at Gentry Locke Rakes and Moore say the amount of money is confidential and will not be released.
