The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the Target Security Breach and Cyber crime later this morning. It will involve testimony from Target company officials, security experts and consumer advocates. They'll discuss policies and procedures to strengthen credit card security for retailers.

Christiansburg Town Council will have a special meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a bill making its way through the General Assembly that would designate the Blue Ridge Highlands as a region. A designation by the Virginia Tourism Authority could help enhance tourism development efforts.

The Red Cross is holding a blood drive in Blacksburg today from 12 to 6:00 PM at its donation center on South Main. This comes on the heels of the cancellation of more than 50 drives over the last week because of snow and ice.

It's promotion day for Roanoke Police. The ceremony is this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Police Training Academy.

A Roanoke police officer will read stories to pre-schoolers this morning as part of an effort to focus on the community. The officer will read to kids at the Lincoln Terrace Head Start at 10 a.m..
