Crystal Spring area grows in Roanoke

Posted: Updated:
Crystal Spring is an area of south Roanoke that's attracting all types of business.

Balance Wellspace is now in full swing after moving in on Carolina Avenue in November. It's a spa, gym, and chiropractor center all in one. Owner Jennifer Walker says the convenience to the highway and downtown made the transition easy.

Lex Cheveux Salon and Day Sap opened about a year ago. Lisa Soltis, Roanoke's Economic Development Specialist says the owner made a $2.4 million investment.

Right next door, Sweet Donkey Coffee House is opening at the end of the month. Co-owner Ann-Maree White says they saw a need for a coffee shop in the area.

"We've had a lot of really great local businesses that seem to be just thriving and I think the neighborhood supports the local businesses and I'm hoping they will support us as well," Sweet Donkey Coffee House co-owner Ann-Maree White says.

Other businesses that have opened up recently include 'The River and Rail Restaurant' and Body Sense  Day Spa and Clinic.
