Crews have been working hard over the last month to keep the streets clean.
The City of Roanoke, City of Salem, and the Salem VDOT district which serves 12 counties and 14 cities in Southwest Virginia are all under their snow removal budget.
The City of Roanoke has spent $194,000.
It's used about 50% of it's budget.
The City of Salem has spent $73,000 on snow removal.
That's 75% of it's budget.
Finally, VDOT has spent $7.5 million.
It's budget for this year is $16.6 million.
If any of the cities or VDOT goes over budget, each has extra money set aside to cover additional costs.
Amelia Merchant, Director of Management and Budget for Roanoke City, says there will be no noticeable difference to the public if snow removal costs run over.
She says,"Roads will be just as clean as they are for the first snow of the season. Crews will be out on the same schedule that they typically are."
