North Carolina woman arrested for stealing over $90,000 in jewelry in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - A North Carolina woman accused of stealing jewelry worth with thousands from a local store has been captured.

We showed you surveillance video and pictures back on January 29th. You could see a white woman come into Dempsey Jewelers in Johnson City. Police said that same woman tried on three rings on and then ran out stealing all three, totaling more than $93,400.

Thanks to the help of police in North Carolina Kingsley Michelle Perkins was arrested and charged with being a Fugitive from Justice.

She was then transported back to the Tri-Cities where she was also charged with one count of Theft of Property over $60,000.

As of Saturday morning Perkins was in the Washington County Detention Center on $100,000 bond. She is expected to be in court Monday afternoon.
