Snowpocalypse party in downtown Roanoke

Posted: Updated:

Now that the snow has stopped, the dig out has begun. For the first time in days, downtown Roanoke is buzzing with people.

Snowpocolypse has turned to snow party in the city. Many decided to bypass the icy roads and hoof it.  Pedestrians have taken over the street.

John Frederick is one of those who decided to walk to get his meal.

"It was a pleasant enough walk. People are out and about and tossing snowballs and stuff like that," Frederick said.

Some are getting a little more creative.

Wayne Corprew decided to test out his trusty 4-wheeler. He says it worked better than taking out his truck.

"We are all having difficulty. I had my big truck out earlier but I couldn't get out it was still really rough so I decided to get the 4-wheeler out and have at it."

And have at it he did, all the way to dinner and around the block a time or two. John says not only was it a smooth ride, it was a first in downtown Roanoke.
