The Blacksburg Children's Museum is getting close to its grand opening.
The area's first museum will open in less than two weeks and volunteers are busy getting ready. They're painting and setting up exhibits as they come in.
The museum has been holding a four week, Mad Scientist Series which gives children a hands on experience in science. Volunteers says it has helped get the attention of more families and build enthusiasm for opening day. "The area's going to benefit a lot," said museum board member Bettye Ackerman. "It's going to be a place where children can gather and learn about science and art and technology."
The Blacksburg Children's Museum will have its grand opening Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m.. It's located at First and Main Shopping Center in Blacksburg.
The museum board and staff are comprised of volunteers who were passionate about bringing a children's museum to the New River Valley.
