ROANOKE COUNTY -

One Roanoke County supervisor is hoping to extend an anti-littering campaign across the Commonwealth.

Charlotte Moore said the county is asking lawmakers in Richmond to change the statewide ordinance, allowing local government's to keep the money collected in littering fines.

That money would then be reinvested into future campaigns.

"It really seems to be the fair thing to do that we get to keep the (money) so that we can put that back into the funding for another anti-littering campaign and keep it locally," she said.

At this point there's no word if the General Assembly will take action on the proposal.

Moore said they will continue to fight for the change, even if it's not approved.
