BEDFORD COUNTY - There are new details about the Bedford County mother who was charged in the death of her two year old son Jordan Smith. Last week, the Bedford County Sheriff's Department said the boy was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to a search warrant, Shana Witt, the mother, told an investigator she suffocated the child with a large stuffed animal in the bedroom.

Michael Smith, the father, admitted he saw Witt manufacturing methamphetamine in the home and then cleaned it up before contacting police.
