SALEM -

The Blue Ridge Music Festival in Salem is getting a boost thanks to the success of its performers.

Country artist and 2014 performer Thomas Rhett is nominated for best country song in the inaugural I Heart Radio Awards.

It's giving the Blue Ridge Music Festival more attention, which organizers hope will translate into more interest in the event.

"It doesn't necessarily sell a lot more tickets but it does give you a lot more exposure," said Carey Harveycutter with the Salem Civic Center. "It's an opportunity that the talent can be seen by people that maybe heard them on the radio but don't put a face with it."

Harveycutter said they sold 10,000 tickets in 2013 and they hope to add to that number this year.
