This year there will be more time and more space to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in downtown Roanoke this Saturday.

Downtown Roanoke INC. expanded the hours of the 'McDonald's Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Shamrock Festival' from noon to 8 p.m.

For the first time, Salem and Campbell Avenue will be shutdown at the same time to feature music from local and regional talent.

"It gives us a chance to introduce people to parts of downtown they may not have visited before," Matthew Klepeisz DRI Communications and Program Manager says.

The Shamrock Hill 5K and 10K run starts at 8:30 a.m this Saturday. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Jefferson Avenue.

There will also be a McDonald's Children Area with face-painting, games, inflatables, and more at the Taubman Museum of Art. Plus, a Celtic music from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in front of Corned Beef & Company.
