Matt Kenseth dropped by Martinsville to try his hand at a race of a different sort--the new NASCAR 2014 video game. While Kenseth says he likes video games, he admits to not playing racing games because that's all he does all weekends. He says he likes playing Madden, and being the GM of the Green Bay Packers. Our own Jonathan Merryman admitted to playing a lot of video games during his high school years, and he took down Kenseth on the track pretty handily.

Kenseth says he's happy about the changes to NASCAR's qualifying--specifically the banning of the cool down" laps..and the addition of engine coolers on pit road to help make the new knockout qualifying safer. The 2003 Champ says a situation where cars going nearly 200mph are flying by cars that are going 30mph...is not a good one. He also commented on Martinsville, calling the track unique..and he says it is in his top three if he were buying a ticket--especially since Bristol has tampered with their track and changed how racing happens there. He says a lot happens at Martinsville--and says Gordon, Johnson and Hamlin are still the cars to beat. He explained that after his second place finish in the fall that its not longer one of his "worst" tracks--and that he has learned a lot from the Gibbs combination of Hamlin and Busch about how to drive the track. For more on the history of Martinsville Speedway, check out Jonathan Merryman's story on the man who started it all: H. Clay Earles.
