ROANOKE -

Tonight voters will get their first chance hear from the candidates for Roanoke City Council.

The Greater Raleigh Court Civic League is sponsoring a candidate forum at 7 p.m.

Of the 10 candidates running for three council seats, six have committed to the forum including incumbents Bill Bestpitch and Ray Ferris.

It will also include Democrats Linda Wyatt and Freeda Cathcart as well as independents Valerie Garner and Tuan Reynolds.

"We like to be first so we can inform our neighborhood about some of the city's issues," said Greater Raleigh Court Civic League President Jake Gilmer. "We try and ask question that relate to neighborhoods and broader questions that face the city."

WSLS 10's Aaron Martin will be moderating tonight's forum.

It begins at 7 p.m. At Christ Lutheran Church on Brandon Avenue in Roanoke.
