TROUTVILLE, VA -

A Troutville man is charged with two counts of attempted murder after an altercation Wednesday night.

According to the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office, 54-year-old Patrick D. Bryant became agitated with a barking dog in a small apartment building in north Troutville.

After threatening two people and the dog with a hammer, the release says Bryant attacked them.

According to witnesses the two victims overpowered Bryant and held him down until deputies arrived.

He is being held in the Botetourt County Jail.

No bond has been set.
