Huckleberry Trail construction kicks off in Blacksburg

Posted: Updated:
BLACKSBURG - More construction is underway on sections of the Huckleberry Trail in Blacksburg. The goal is to connect the trail in the Heritage Park to the Linwood Lane trail. Crews are clearing out a path and laying down dirt from a road construction project nearby.
The town is also designing a connector between Linwood Lane and Price's Fork.  It is all possible through a $371,000 grant from the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Blacksburg Parks and Recreation director
Dean Crane says, "Anytime you have a linear park like that that goes through everything from the university, residential areas to open parks like this, it's just a connection. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing for the community."

The project is expected to be finished about this time next year.
