    The 11th annual Knights Crossing cross country meet was held Saturday at Green Hill Park in Salem. The Blacksburg Girls looked strong as always in the event held by Cave Spring High School. The 4th ranked team in the nation took the Girls Team Title in the Girls Red 5k. E.C. Glass sophomore Libby Davidson took first place overall in the event. She set the course record, running a 17:36.7 minute mile.

The 4th ranked team in the nation took the Girls Team Title in the Girls Red 5k. E.C. Glass sophomore Libby Davidson took first place overall in the event.     The William Fleming basketball program is already on the state map--the boys have three state titles and four runner up finishes to their credit. But for the girls team, this year is a first. Coach Champ Hubbard's girls racked up a 22-6 record and took on Lake Taylor in the Group 4A State title game in Richmond. The Lady Colonels fell 57-50 to finish the year as the state runner up.  Lake Taylor finished the game on a 6-0 run to pull away and get the victory. Joanne Williams had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Titans, who finish the year at 23-5. The win their third state title in five seasons. Endia McKinney added 14 points and 16 rebounds. Antavia Stevens, Gracie Doane and Desree Keeling each had 11 points for the Colonels, who finish up 22-7. The Colonels committed 28 turnovers against Lake Taylor's full court pressure.
