ROANOKE COUNTY -

School bus drivers in Roanoke County have until 4:30 p.m. to decide if they will accept early retirement from the school board.

This comes after the board voted two weeks ago to cut driver benefits.

The move was met with a massive protest when 40 drivers called out sick after dropping students off at school on the morning of February 28.

It forced Roanoke County Schools to dismiss early and parents to come pick up their children.

If the drivers accept early retirement it will go into effect at the end of the school year.

WSLS's Rachel Lucas will have the latest coming up.
