RALEIGH, N.C. -

This weekend, 54 teams will go head-to-head in a robotics competition in Raleigh.

March 13 through 15 at Dorton Arena on the state fairgrounds, teams will put their skills to the test to see if their robot has what it takes to win.

Each year, as part of the FIRST Robotics Competition North Carolina Regional, teams are challenged to use their robots in a predetermined game.

Alliances compete by trying to score as many balls in goals as possible during a 2-minute 30-second match.

The students and engineering mentors will be competing for honors and recognition. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the North Carolina regional event.
