The Celebration of Heroes breakfast is less than a week. Today away we introduce you to Sharon Reynolds, a Roanoke County woman named 911 Dispatch Hero after dedicating her career to answering emergency calls.
She started back in 1986 before the internet and before 911 even existed.
Beverly Orange nominated Sharon as a Red Cross 911 Dispatch Hero.
Because of the job's stress level, people usually only last a couple years.
“It's hard to stay in this seat for 27 years,” Beverly explained.
“Not everybody can do this job and I've been proud that I've been able to hang on to it and love and love it as much from the very first day that I walked in to the day that I retired,” Sharon said.
The technology has improved over the years, but the helpful voice in an emergency is what makes Sharon a hero.
