Escaped Orange Co. inmate turns himself in

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -

An inmate from the Orange Correctional Center who escaped Monday afternoon turned himself in to authorities.

The Department of Public Safety said Kenneth Lussier, 40, of Durham, walked away while on work assignment in Hillsborough around 5 p.m.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Lussier turned himself in to authorities and is now in administrative segregation at Orange Correctional Center.

Lussier was serving 12 to 15 years for habitual felon, larceny and felony breaking and entering. He now faces escape charges.

Lussier was due for release in July 2015.
