Police in Roanoke City have arrested two people in connection with robbing a church.

Ronald Keith Merson, age 40, of Roanoke County, and Lauren Nicole Sullivan, age 26, also of Roanoke County are charged with burglary and grand larceny.

The robbery happened on March 29th on the 3100 block of Pioneer Road NW at the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren.

During their investigation officers found evidence of forced entry into the church.

Items including $250.00 in cash, food, an Antec computer, computer monitor, 2 DVD players, a television, a broken weed eater and a tool box filled with tools.

According to search warrants Officer R. Tangney saw several people the night before in room #202 of the Knights Inn loading a gold Volvo with items that matched the description of stolen items that a local church reported missing.

Police later collaborated and investigated the traffic stop from the night before and were able to make the arrests.

Merson and Sullivan were taken to the Roanoke City Jail.
