Roanoke City and Vinton mayors volunteer for Rebuilding Together Roanoke

Posted: Updated:
Each year Rebuilding Together Roanoke is able to renovate the houses of 100 low-income home owners.

Prepping for its newest build and in honor of Mayor's Day of Recognition for National Service two Roanoke Valley mayors got involved and volunteered.

Roanoke City Mayor David Bowers and Vinton Mayor Bradley Grose are the first of 650 volunteers to sign up Spring Rebuilding Day.

They spent Tuesday morning putting together a new shelf and organizing tools and supplies for the upcoming event.

“Many hands make light work. That means that the more people who are involved, there is just a little bit for each of us to do. If we would all take a moment to get involved, a little bit of extra time, make an effort to volunteer for the many service organizations here in the Roanoke Valley than it makes it easier on everybody,” Mayors Bowers explained.

Both mayors will be helping to rebuild 35 homes on April 28th and are asking for volunteers.
