Newport opens their first ever library

Posted: Updated:
One community in the New River Valley is celebrating a major milestone Saturday, the opening of their first library.

Community leaders in Newport, Giles County combined their money together several years ago to buy the old Newport High School to turn it into the community center which will now feature their first library along with the community museum and theatre.

The ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, with events lasting throughout the afternoon including a theatre performance and a “taste of Italy dinner”.

The community center is located on 434 blue grass trail (us 42), Newport.
