Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE COUNTY, VA - Roanoke County fire investigators are not able to identify exactly what sparked a house fire that broke out on Underhill Avenue Friday afternoon. They do believe it to be accidental in nature. The fire caused extensive damage to the room of origin—the front bedroom—as well as causing smoke and water damage to the rest of the home causing an estimated $50,000 damages.

A family of four is now displaced. The two dogs and one cat that were missing yesterday have been found alive and well.

Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 1400 block of Underhill Avenue at about 1:45 yesterday afternoon.

The couple who lived in the house was not home at the time the fire started. A neighbor heard a loud “pop” sound and then spotted the smoke and called 9-1-1.

No injuries were reported.
