Amherst County Sheriff's Deputy dies

An Amherst County Sheriff's Office deputy died early Saturday morning according to a news release.

Deputy Eddie Wayne Martin died suddenly of an apparent heart attack according to the Sheriff's Office.

Wayne was 57 years old and has served Central Virginia law enforcement for a number of years.

The funeral service is 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Briarwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, where Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

Whitten's Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
