Military honoring others who served by offering breakfast

Posted: Updated:
In the New River Valley, local veterans met in Christiansburg for breakfast this morning to bond over military service.

The group, known as the “Veterans of Foreign Wars”, is made up of veterans from all over the New River Valley who have fought in wars overseas.

The breakfast this morning was open to anyone who served in the military.

Vietnam veteran Daniel Maderic says he feels the need to give back to his fellow veterans.

“I’m just blessed to be here and to do whatever I can for the men coming back and the men out in the street,” Maderic said.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars hold other events for veterans, including a weekly bingo night on Tuesdays.

Veterans and current military service members who have been in combat, in a designated hostile fire zone, or have received a campaign medal are welcome to visit the post, which is located at 490 High Street in Christiansburg.
