Roanoke city receives new electric car charging station

Posted: Updated:
Roanoke City Council approved the donation of what will become the strongest electric car charging station in the city.

It will be the star city's third charging station.

It's a level 3, which means it can fully charge your electric car in about thirty minutes.

Kenneth Cronin, Director of Sustainability for the City says that Virginia Clean Cities, an organization that works to promote the use of alternative fuels and vehicles, donated the station.

Cronin says that providing access to alternative fuel sources for interested tourists and citizens is important.

Electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, plug in electric vehicles are all something that America is interested in. There is a change going on and we want to be a part of that change and many of the progressive cities around the country are interested in this as we are,” Cronin said.

Cronin says the charging station will be installed this April close to the market building in downtown Roanoke.
