The Botetourt County Sports Complex is rapidly expanding.

After seeing an enormous demand, the county decided to build two new softball fields.

The project will cost around $200,000.

They will be added to the four already in place.

Since opening in 2007, complex manager Jim Farmer said they've had a waiting list of teams wanting to use the fields.

It draws an average of 25,000 visitors per year from 25 states.

"Everything that they say about 'you build it they will come' has happened," Farmer said. "We have waiting lists for teams to get in here. Over the seven years we found that six fields would be a magic number for us."

Construction crews are in the process of grading the future fields now.

Farmer expects they will be complete at some point in 2015.
