 President Barack Obama will wrap up the Civil Rights Summit today by delivering remarks on the landmark legislation. The three-day summit commemorates the Civil Rights Act of 1964.... signed into law 50 years ago.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee will hold an oversight hearing this morning. It's probing the reliability and security of the country's electric grid.

The Roanoke County Police Department will host a seminar on the dangers of social media today from six to nine at Northside Middle. It's free and open to the public.

The pedestrian tunnel connecting Evans Mill road and the River's Edge Sports Complex in Roanoke will reopen to the public this morning at 8:00. It was closed for safety while crews worked on lighting improvements.

VDOT will have a public hearing tonight in Bedford County focusing on its six year plan for the county's secondary roads. It begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Bedford County Administration Office.

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute will host its annual School Day and Open House throughout the day. It will feature tours of the Smart Road and demonstrations by the Blue Ridge Crash Team and Blacksburg Transit on traffic safety. 400 local students are expected to attend.

Children's Trust Roanoke Valley will award nine people with the Golden Halo Award at a ceremony today at the Jefferson Center. The ceremony, beginning at 5:30 p.m., honors individuals who make a difference in child abuse prevention and advocacy.
