7th Annual Piratefest wraps up

GREENVILLE, N.C. - On Saturday, the 7th Annual Piratefest wrapped up in Uptown Greenville.

The festival featured several pirate themed activities.

Kids tested out their skills at The Moody Crew Pirate School.

The festival also featured cannon demonstrations, sword fighting, vendors, music, food, and an international fair.

Moody crew members they say they look forward to Piratefest every year.

“I've never seen anything like it. The enthusiasm is just absolutely incredible," said Al Chewning aka “Rusty Bottoms.”    

John and Jenaca Hobson traveled from Clayton to take part in their first Piratefest.

"Everybody [has] been great, very friendly. All the vendors have been spectacular. There's pirates, there's cannons, you can't beat it,” said John Hobson.

The 7th Annual Piratefest is happening this weekend in Greenville.

It kicks off Friday at 5 o'clock in Uptown Greenville. Tomorrow's live music features The Castaways. There will also be plenty of food, drinks, and even bounce houses.

And the real fun gets going on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
   
There will be a pirate costume contest and black powder demo. Also, the ECU shuttle will be running from Piratefest to the Pigskin Pigout.
    
And the headlining band Saturday night is The Original Wailers, including original members Al Anderson and Tyrone Downie, known for their work with the iconic Bob Marley. They'll play at the Town Common amphitheater from 5 until 7.
    
And another note, there will be some changes to traffic and parking this weekend.

Evans Street, from 5th to 3rd, will be closed starting at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon. Evans Street from 3rd to 1st will close overnight Friday into Saturday. And the streets won't reopen until 9 o'clock Saturday night.
