UPDATE:

Radford Police are patrolling the area around McHarg Elementary School to make sure kids there are safe.

WSLS spoke to the parent whose son was involved in the attempted abduction.

Richard Bailey who lives not too far away from where the incident happened says no parent should have to worry where their child is especially on a holiday.

"It was real scary and the kids ran straight here and got me and I tell you I just thank God," Bailey said.

Bailey said most of children come to playground by themselves but he says he won't leave his children alone anymore.

He said the suspect offered his child a dollar to get in the car but he ran home, Bailey says this incident is just a reminder of why parents need to talk to children about strangers.

"I hope they go to jail forever ,people like this you know they could ruin a little kids life so easily," Bailey said.
