Police are investigating any leads that will pop up in the attempted abduction case.
Detectives they patrol that area more because it's near a school and now with police looking into an attempted abduction they will patrol the area more .
"It's a very big deal anytime it involves the safety of the children in this community we're going to take it very serious and follow all leads that come in," Lieutenant Andy Wilburn said .
Detectives say social media has helped with the case as well as people calling in giving tips.
"I'm hopeful that we'll have a resolution based on the information that's come in," Wilburn said.
Radford Police are patrolling the area around McHarg Elementary School to make sure kids there are safe.
WSLS spoke to the parent whose son was involved in the attempted abduction.
Richard Bailey who lives not too far away from where the incident happened says no parent should have to worry where their child is especially on a holiday.
"It was real scary and the kids ran straight here and got me and I tell you I just thank God," Bailey said.
Bailey said most of children come to playground by themselves but he says he won't leave his children alone anymore.
He said the suspect offered his child a dollar to get in the car but he ran home, Bailey says this incident is just a reminder of why parents need to talk to children about strangers.
"I hope they go to jail forever ,people like this you know they could ruin a little kids life so easily," Bailey said.
Radford City Police responded to an attempted abduction on the 700 block of 12th St. in the West end of Radford. Police say a parent reported it around 6 Saturday evening, Saying 3 children between the ages of 7 and 8 years old said 2 males inside a compact car offered them money to get into the vehicle. Police believe it is an older model red and black Mitsubishi Eclipse or Camaro with a spoiler on the back. The bottom of the vehicle is believed to be red with a black hood and black on the sides below the doors. It may also be convertible and may have some damage on one side.
