Teachers Cut Hair for Vinton's Relay for Life

Posted: Updated:
Vinton's Relay for Life starts this week and several people are showing their support the best way they know how.

Teachers at William Byrd High School are cutting their hair.

Teachers Mrs. Nichols and  Ms. Goin have debated about cutting their hair since last fall.

They decided to let the school decide which cut they should get based on which jar has the most amount of money.

Options included a pixie, a bob, a shaved head or purple streaks.

"Talking about and dealing with cancer can be difficult and we have had faculty members here even our principal who is a cancer survivor and so we are trying to find our way talk about it and deal with it but also do it in a positive way," Allyson Goin said.

The hair will be donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and the money will be given to Relay for Life.
