Investigators Release Name of Victim on Smith Mountain Lake Boating Accident

Posted: Updated:
Investigators released the name of the victim, 37 year old Timothy O'Quinn from Botetourt County.

They say O'Quinn was riding in the boat with 61 year old Teddy Wolford and Wolford's 14 year old grandson when it was hit by Gary and Chrystal Nichols around 9 Friday evening.

Detectives say Wolford's 14 year old grandson is responsible for saving the Nichols.

The Nichols were treated at nearby hospitals and Wolford is still hospitalized with serious injuries.

Investigators say all were there for the fishing tournament and all alcohol is not a factor in the crash.

No one was wearing life jackets and no charges have been filed.
