The debate over whether student athletes should be allowed to form a union moves to Congress. The House Committee on Education and the workforce will hold a hearing this morning to discuss the consequences. Student athletes at Northwestern have voted but the ballots have not been counted pending a university appeal to the National Labor Relations Board.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus will hold a news conference in Hartford, Connecticut this morning. Updating us on the accident that injured nine performers at a show in Rhode Island Sunday.

Freedom First Credit Union will have a ribbon cutting for its newest branch in Roanoke's West End neighborhood. It's been working with West End Center and the city to revitalize the area. The grand opening and ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. then from 3 to 6:00 p.m., there will be an open house with tours, activities for kids and music.

Noah Christian Academy in Roanoke will be given a $15,000 check this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. by local law firm Wilson, Updike & Nicely. The money is being given in honor of the late Bishop J.C. English will be use to establish a scholarship to help families in financial need pay tuition.

The Roanoke 6-year-old to be featured on the shelves of Food Lion stores starting today to show the chain's partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals will be at the Starkey Road store to sign autographs this afternoon. Victor Chase, who has been treated at Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital since birth will be there with his family and Tony the Tiger at 4:00 p.m..
