TAP's YALE program reaches 100 student goal

Posted: Updated:
A popular program run through Total Action for Progress (TAP) is hitting its goals and looking for more grant money.

The Young Adult Life Enhancement (YALE) program helps people 18-21 years old with a juvenile record get back on their feet through education, job training and community service.

This spring the program reached its goal of recruiting 100 students, with only three re-offending.

"With what we've been able to accomplish it shows that the population is there that needs to be served," said YALE Service Learning Coordinator Troy Gusler. "If we can continue to get grants from the Department of Labor (DOL) then we can continue to help that age range as far as the 18-21 year olds."

Gusler said TAP is now writing grants to the DOL to get more money for these programs.
